2023 Love Among the Ruins

In 2016, the boundary lines of our beloved Sta. Rita Hills were viticulturally gerrymandered in order to annex the land of a particular wine grower that was previously outside of the appellation. At that time, most local growers were aghast as they witnessed their sacred boundaries being pushed further away from the ocean, into a warmer climate. As for myself, I began reffering to the newly annexed land as "The Ruins". But a few years later, once the politcal dust had settled a few of us, at least started to visualize an upside: Grenache- A noble grape that is well suited to warmer climates. This beautiful Santa Barbara County Blend of Grenache now represents a reconciliation of winegrowing in the stalwart regions fo the original Sta. Rita Hills, along with the winegrowing in its annexed areas, and beyond. When it comes to Grenache, we are truly feeling the love among the ruints.
